Objective
By the end of this course students will have
• understood the concept of personal branding.
• formed the building blocks of a personal branding strategy for their future.
• applied aspects of personal branding to their current needs and career aspirations.
• learned how to create, adapt and maintain impactful brand statements and profiles.
• learned to use various online tools and social media effectively for branding, job search or networking purposes.
• learned how to create effective micro- and macro- content for branding/networking/job search purposes.
• produced a personal brand portfolio relevant to their current needs and career aspirations.
Content
• Setting your personal branding objectives
• Discovering your own USP/UVP, your strengths and potential
• Planning, creating and maintaining a personal brand strategy
• Creating your brand statement(s)
• Creating, maintaining and exploiting your professional online presence
• Using various social media and online tools for personal branding, job search and networking
• Creating micro- and macro- content in English for branding, networking and job search purposes
• Interacting and engaging with your online audience
• Using analytics effectively
• Understanding copyright issues, privacy settings, community guidelines, policy violations, risks, fake news, click bait, blacklisted links, account locks etc.
• Protecting yourself against bots, hacks, fake accounts, impersonators, cyber bullying, inauthentic engagement etc.
• Planning a personal branding strategy for the future
• Building a personal branding portfolio for now and the future
Materials
The course will take place in Moodle with interactive workshops in Zoom.
Recommended reading and internet links will be given in Moodle.
Exam schedules
There is no exam for this course so no resit opportunity.
Student workload
5 credits = 133 hours workload
Independent study of online course material and recommended reading 40 hours (= 10 hours per week for summer school duration)
Interactive workshops 8 hours

Applying course material in practice to your personal brand 60 hours
Building a Personal Brand portfolio for assessment purposes 23 hours

Further information
Students may work individually on the portfolio during the summer holiday and submit it for grading in week 34. However there will be no teaching or contact with the lecturer after the end of week 24.

Students have achieved the course objectives fairly. Students will be able to identify, define and use the course subject area’s concepts and models. The student understands the criteria and principles of the expertise development.
Assessment criteria, good (3)
Students have achieved the course objectives well, even though the knowledge and skills need improvement on some areas. Students are able to define the course concepts and models and are able to justify the analysis. The student is able to apply their knowledge in leisure, study and work situations. The student understands the importance of expertise in the field of business and is able to analyze his/her own expertise.
