Objective
The student understands why and how cultural heritage inventories, documentations and contextual definitions are made. The student knows the principles and methods of specialized documentation for different types of artefacts, knows conservation documentation practices and specialized vocabulary. The student is able to make high quality photos and process them with applicable programs. The student knows the basics of analytical photography and understands the use of X-ray photography in conservation research and documentation. The student knows the basics of microscopy, the operating principles of microscopes and is able to apply microscopy in his/her documentation and research including micro-graphic photos.
Content
Principles of conservation documentation, specialized vocabulary.
Photography and image processing.
Microscopy and basics of micro-graphic photography.
Basics of X-ray in conservation.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
The student has a picture of the basic concepts of conservation documentations and knows related theory on a basic level. The student is able to take digital photos and knows the basics of image processing and understands the main issues of the course. The student understands the necessary theoretical and applied principles related to conservation documentation and the basic operating principles of used technology. The student is able to acquire independently reliable data upon course theme.
Assessment criteria, good (3)
The student has a good picture of conservation documentation basic concepts and vocabulary. The student has good practical skills in digital photography and image processing. The student is able to give reasons for his/her documentation choices and practical work proceeds logically by following the established procedure in conservation. The student comprehends the course content both in theory and in practice and has achieved good level in his/her skills and knowledge. The student understands the operating principles and benefits of used technology. The student is able to work autonomously.
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
The student masters conservation documentation and has achieved excellent level of knowledge and skills. The student shows excellent knowledge of theoretical and applied information and is able to apply learned during the course skills. The student understands the operating principles and advantages of used technology for conservation. The student is able to fulfill independently both written and practical assignments. The student is able to give reasons for his/her documentation choices and practical work proceeds logically by following the established procedure in conservation. The student works independently and shows self-motivation and creativity in problem solving.
