Objective

The purpose of the course is to strengthen the student’s competence in the management of internal quality assessment processes and the expertise needed in external quality assessments.

The student identifies various operating environments in health care and social services and is able to assess the importance of quality in them. The student is able to assess the suitability of quality control systems to their purpose in different organisations. The student knows how to collect quality assessment information and to evaluate quality control using various methods and approaches.

The student is able to analyse the safety processes of health care and social services organisations and to promote a positive and rewarding safety culture with their personal actions. The student is able to manage and develop safety activities at their workplace and to utilise digital solutions in maintaining the safety culture and in reporting safety breaches.

- Quality control systems, laws and standards
- Tools and methods of quality control, assessment and development
- Development and management of quality in safety processes
- Client and patient safety in service provision operations and in their management
- Information management and development of information systems

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student demonstrates that they understand the basic content of the course but there are shortcomings in their ability to independently acquire and interpret information and apply what they have learned.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student demonstrates that they have a good understanding of the content of the course. They actively acquire information and interpret the key connections between different pieces of information. The student has the ability to analyse what they have learned and to apply it in practice.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student demonstrates that they have a diverse and broad understanding of the content of the course. They possess excellent information acquisition skills that are suited to the purpose at hand. The student demonstrates independence and responsibility in the choices they make. They have a creative and broad-based ability to apply what they have learned in practice.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

Approved: The student demonstrates that they understand the basic content of the course but there are shortcomings in their ability to independently acquire and interpret information and apply what they have learned in practice.

RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning)
The course can be accredited with prior Master’s degree level studies the contents of which correspond to the contents of this course, or with strong competence with similar content obtained in other ways.
