Objective
The student knows how to function as a member of an ensemble. The student knows various styles of popular music and can delineate their role in an ensemble both as soloist and accompanist. The student plays or sings repertoire of different eras of popular music from memory, and is capable of taking on responsibilities related to working in an ensemble. The student develops interaction skills and can reflect on their own work and that of others, as well as express themselves both orally and in writing. The student is able to write and read musical notation.

Qualifications
Completion of basic education in music or equivalent skills and knowledge.
Assessment criteria, approved/failed
The student:
- is able to work independently and under supervision in the rehearsal of the repertoire
- has learned the course repertoire to a satisfactory level (for example, is able to perform from memory if needed)
- is able to play their instrument and perform the repertoire idiomatically
- is able to communicate with both the ensemble and the audience
- understands their role in an ensemble and can communicate their own musical ideas.
