Objective

Students are familiar with factors affecting the efficiency and profitability of services and are able to apply information to their own action. Students understand alternative possibilities for organising and producing services and the principles and key content of the procurement processes of the services. Students are able to evaluate the data collected on the functionality and impacts of the services and utilise this in developing operations. The students become acquainted with the main features of rational decision-making theory.

Content

Efficiency producing and effective client relationship processes. Plans for organizing and producing services in the management of services and when steering the service markets. Acquisition methods of services and processes as parts of the abovementioned plans. Follow-up data and evaluation as part of the information management of services. Statutory supervision in the field of health and social services as well as supervising and monitoring of the procurement contracts. Rational decision-making theory.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Management and development in the field of social services:
• masters the principles of strategic and operative management and knows how to apply them to management in practice
• is familiar with management systems, understands their meaning and knows how to apply them to work community/organisation
• develops services and the activities of work communities by participatory actions.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Management and development in the field of social services:
• masters the principles of strategic and operative management and knows how to apply them to practice flexibly in managerial duties
• is familiar with management systems and knows how to apply them to versatile work communities, organisations and networks
• develops and manages services and service units ethically enabling their participation.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Management and development in the field of social services:
• masters the principles of strategic and operative management and knows how to apply them to practice flexibly in demanding and complex managerial situations
• is familiar with management systems and knows how to apply them to versatile work communities, organisations and networks
• develops and manages services and service units ethically and in a socially sustainable manner as well as can lead the activities of work communities in an inspiring and renewing manner.
