Course unit code: TX00EJ51
General information
- Credits
- 5 cr
Objective
On completion of the course, the student will be able to use 2,5 -, 3 - and 5-axis tool paths for machining center using 3D volume and surface models for the path making. The student will be able to simulate and post-process a path into an ISO code NC programme and to run the programme with a machine tool. The student will be able to choose suitable tools and machining values for the programme to reach the required accuracy and surface roughness taking the machining costs and processing time into consideration.
Content
1. 3D model creation and transfer to the CAM program
2. 2.5-axis tool paths
3. 3-axis tool paths form surfaces
4. 3 +2 axis tool paths
5. 5-axis tool paths
Qualifications
Manufacturing Engineering
3D modeling and CAE
