Objective

Learning outcomes
As a student you are able to explain the purpose of clinical chemistry laboratory tests in the promotion of health, diagnosing of diseases and monitoring of treatments. You are able to link key metabolic reactions and their regulatory systems with various clinical chemistry laboratory tests. You are able to carry out the most common clinical chemistry tests and explain the principles of the methods that they use, and you know the relevant concepts. You recognise cells and particles in urine. You are able to describe the methods of determining bodily fluids. You know how to use certain laboratory data systems in the health care and social services sector. You understand the significance of pre-analytics in the laboratory testing process and can explain and assess laboratory test results. You recognise quality control systems and understand their importance. You understand the importance of validation and verification. You know how to use and service clinical chemistry testing devices. You understand the link between biochemical phenomena in the human body and clinical chemistry tests and know how to apply it in practice. You work in various working and learning environments and in multidisciplinary teams with a development-oriented approach.
