Objective

In this course, the student will expand his/her knowledge of different analysis techniques and prevailing analytical methods. He/she will learn about the analytical possibilities they provide.

The student is able to use literature to plan and develop a new analytical method. He/she is able to evaluate the method and develop it further.

Content

1. GC-MS and HPLC-MS –techniques and different ionization techniques related to them
2. Mass separation techniques such as IRMS, MS-MS, ion trap and Time Of Flight (TOF) and MALDI-TOF

The student shows that he/she has achieved the targets for core competence.

Student can use GC- and LC-MS equipments and is able to create analysis methods for them. He/She uses the concepts of instrumental methods fluently and understands the analytical opportunities of combination techniques.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Student applies his professional expertise purposefully in practice. He/She uses the concepts and information of instrumental methods professionally and combines them into larger entities.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

The student shows that he/she has achieved the targets for core competence.
