Objective

The course is designed to strengthen the student’s professional, research, development and innovation skills as well as proficiency in critical argumentation and formation of knowledge. The goal is to collaboratively develop new innovative practices for the job sector, which have the capacity to widely influence the progress of the field and area.

Having completed this course, the student is able to:

- Identify and evaluate the research and development needs of cultural management.
- Define the goals of developmental research and plan a development project being familiar with the requirements of a master’s thesis in a university of applied sciences.
- Choose appropriate developmental approaches and methods for the implementation of their thesis.
- Search for information and material on both national and international levels to support their thesis.
- Have a process and an eye for quality when writing their thesis.
- Obtain information by trying out new products, services, events or methods in practice.
- Master the principles of collaborative developmental skills and the interactive production of services.
- Understand what innovativeness is as an approach and use innovative methods in their work.
- Understand the importance of ongoing evaluation of development projects and know different methods of evaluation.

- Using research-based development methods.
- Using communal methods of generating ideas.
- Understanding and trying out the different phases of the innovation process.
- Search for information and building a knowledge base.
- Writing a thesis.
- Source criticism and critical thinking.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

- Students are familiar with the most important methods of research-based development and know how to apply these to the development and research needs of cultural management.
- Students master the basics of gathering information.
- Students know how to process the information they have obtained and are aware of the importance of a development project’s assessment methods.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

- Students have thoroughly familiarized themselves with the methods of research-based development and know how to apply these to the development and research needs of cultural management.
- Students are able to gather versatile information from both national and international source material.
- Students know how to critically process the gathered information and master the assessment methods of a development project.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

- Students have familiarized themselves especially well with the methods of research-based development and know how to creatively apply these to the development and research needs of cultural management.
- Students are able to gather versatile information from both national and international source material.
- Students know how to process the gathered information in depth and with quality in addition to diversely mastering the assessment methods of a development project while anticipating new operational models.
