Course unit code: TX00CH41

General information

Credits
5 ECTS

Objective

The students recognize the diagrams of typical functions and are able to numerically and algebraically solve related equations. They can give examples of the use of derivatives and integrals in physics and in HVACE engineering. The students can explain the meaning of measurement uncertainty and analyze errors statistically. They can visualize and interpret statistical data.

Content

Power and exponential functions, solving exponential functions, the concept of logarithm and logarithmic scale, trigonometric functions, numeric solving of equations, derivative, integral.
Measurement uncertainty and statistical error assessment. Visualization of statistical data and statistical parameters. Basics of regression analysis.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The students are able to recognize the fundamental concepts and methods associated with the course and are able to solve simple problems.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

In addition to above, the students are able to apply the fundamental concepts and methods associated with the course to simple problems related to course contents.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The students are able to apply the fundamental concepts and methods associated with the course to more demanding problems related to course contents.
