Objective
On completion of the course, the student will be able to choose a suitable linear actuator for load transfer.
The student will be able to calculate forces in grippers and fasteners including friction forces.
The student will be able to design mechanisms computing linkage velocities, accelerations, and forces.
The student will be able to design a mechanism following a desired trajectory accurately in three locations.
The student will be able to design a cam mechanism following a desired trajectory.

The student is able to solve the clamping force of a fastening mechanism consisting of several parts when the actuator force and the friction coefficients are known.
The student is able to determine trajectories, velocities, and accelerations of a mechanism consisting of several parts.
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
The student is able to determine trajectories, velocities, accelerations, and forces of mechanisms consisting of several parts.
The student is able to calculate the exact profile of a cam mechanism and calculate the accelerations and forces of the follower.
