Objective
On completion of the course, the student
• is able to design and commission hydraulic and pneumatic systems
• is able to apply and commission proportional and servo hydraulics in suitable applications
• knows the basic safety requirements of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

• Designing and commissioning hydraulic systems
• Proportional hydraulic systems and their commissioning
• Servo hydraulic systems and dimensioning of dynamic systems
• Designing pneumatically actuated devices, dimensioning the components
• Choosing and implementing the control system
• Documentation of hydraulically and pneumatically actuated systems
• Analysing the safety and risk factors

The student
• is able to dimension and choose the actuators and components for hydraulic and pneumatic systems
• is familiar with the components of proportional and servo hydraulics
• is familiar with the basic documentation requirements for hydraulic and pneumatic systems
• is familiar with the basic machine safety requirements for hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
Assessment criteria, good (3)
The student
• knows the significance of efficiency and is able to take it into account in system design
• is able to apply proportional hydraulics in appropriate cases
• is aware of the difference between steering and regulation, and is able to apply servo hydraulics in appropriate cases
• is able to implement a pneumatic system with design and dimensioning software
• is able to create circuit diagrams with suitable software
• knows the documentation requirements for hydraulic and pneumatic systems
• knows the basic safety requirements for hydraulic and pneumatic systems
• is able to take safety requirements into account when selecting and dimensioning the components.

The student
• can choose the components of hydraulic and pneumatic systems according to the needs of each application
• is able to commission proportional hydraulic systems
• can dimension a dynamic system and is able to choose suitable components for it
• can make a functional description and definition of a pneumatically actuated system
• is able to create the necessary documentation of the planning of a hydraulic and pneumatic system
• knows the machine safety requirements for hydraulic and pneumatic systems
• is able to make a preliminary risk analysis of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
