Work Placement 2: Assessment and promotion of occupational performance and participationLaajuus (12 ECTS)
Course unit code: SG00AA17
General information
- Credits
- 12 ECTS
Objective
Students plan and implement individual occupational therapy processes. As far as possible, they participate in planning and implementing group situations from the perspective of their own client and therapeutic occupation. Students assess factors contributing to the client’s occupational performance. They negotiate with the client on the objectives based on assessment and plan appropriate intervention. Students choose occupations together with the client and adapt and stagger these so as to promote the client’s occupational performance and participation. They contribute to the accessibility of psychosocial, physical and technical environments, such as guiding the client and his/her family and friends, recommending assistive devices, planning routine environmental adaptations and preparing static orthoses. Students are able to identify and assess change in the client’s occupational behaviour. They carry out occupational therapy in the client’s home and local environments. Students justify their solutions based on experience, expertise and scientific knowledge. Students perform continuous assessment and evaluate achievement of occupational therapy objectives. They share information with the client and their team, make further recommendations based on assessment and document information. They make use of supervision and adjust their own way of instructing the client as required.
