Fiction Screenplay 1Laajuus (6 ECTS)

Objective

Students write their first fictive short-film script during the compulsory course in fiction writing and gain a basic knowledge of the process and management of script writing. Students practise their skills in cinematic expression and enhance their awareness of dramaturgical elements in writing. Students will learn to write short-film scripts of artistic high quality which are ready for production.

The process of writing a five-minute short-film from idea into a version ready for production.
Exercises in writing from the perspective of sound, image, character and story
Structure and form of short films, genres in short films
Metaphor and theme
Development and polishing of dramatic elements
Writing a scene
Teamwork skills in script development
Dramaturgical evaluation of scripts
Understanding the profession of a scriptwriter
