Practical Applications and TestingLaajuus (2 cr)

Course unit code: TX00GJ43

General information

Credits
2 cr

Objective

The student will be able to program and test AI-based solutions that use sensor data from autonomous systems. They will be able to implement a mini-project combining sensor fusion, AI and autonomous decision making, and to analyse and optimise the performance of the system.

Content

1. Combining sensor fusion and artificial intelligence in autonomous decision making
2. Mini-project: AI-based autonomous application

Qualifications

Practical Applications and Testing (2 ECTS) requires completion of the previous sections or equivalent. Students should master the basics of sensor fusion and artificial intelligence and be able to apply them to autonomous systems. In addition, basic knowledge of programming and the use of simulation environments is recommended.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student
• can combine sensor fusion and artificial intelligence in a simple autonomous system.
• carries out the mini-project according to the instructions given.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student
• be able to analyse and optimise the combination of sensor fusion and artificial intelligence in decision making.
• will design and implement an autonomous application that uses artificial intelligence to process sensor data.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student
• can develop and test advanced AI models and sensor fusion in autonomous systems.
• will implement an innovative autonomous system in which AI and sensor fusion work effectively together.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

Practical applications and testing (2 ECTS) is passed if the student can program and test an autonomous application combining sensor fusion and artificial intelligence and implement a mini-project in which the system analyses the environment and makes decisions autonomously. Successful completion requires the implementation of testing and documentation. Failure means that the student is unable to program and test the system, fails to implement the mini-project or leaves documentation incomplete.

Further information

Practical applications and testing (2 ECTS) is carried out as laboratory work and a mini-project in which students program and test sensor systems using artificial intelligence. The course requires active participation and independent work. In the mini-project, students will implement an autonomous application combining sensor fusion and AI, and analyse and optimise its performance.
