Autumn 2023

Descriptions

The learner’s track curriculum in Electrical Engineering and Automation Technology consists mainly of 15 ECTS study modules, which are all organized within one study period of 10 weeks. The study modules are the following:

• compulsory studies of the first year 60 ECTS
• second year compulsory studies of the major 60 ECTS
• two elective study modules of the major 30 ECTS
• two totally elective study modules 30 ECTS
• innovation project and the studies of the second national language 15 ECTS
• two internship periods 30 ECTS
• bachelor thesis 15 ECTS
ALTOGETHER 240 ECTS

The studies of the first year of study are compulsory and common to all the students in the degree programme. The major (specialization) is selected at the end of the first year of study. There is two options: automation technology and electrical power engineering. The studies of the second year of study are compulsory and common to all the students within the major.

During the last two years of study the students have to complete two elective study modules of the major and two totally elective study modules, the innovation project and one course of their second national language. The students have to complete as well two internship periods of 10 weeks and finally carry out a bachelor thesis on a topic related to their major.

The students may relatively freely plan the timing of their studies of the third and fourth year based on the timing of the elective modules etc. The innovation project and the possible course of the second national language are usually completed during the third year of study. The internship periods may be carried out during the study periods of the third or fourth year or alternatively during the summer periods between the semesters.

Study modules include English language and communication studies. After completing the degree, student has acquired such oral and written English skills that are necessary for practicing their profession and for further professional development (Decree 1129/2014, §7).
