Objective

Students will learn to know the key properties of materials in different forms and will be able to apply this knowledge and phase equilibrium management in the search for new material solutions and in the responsible use of already known materials. This knowledge will enable them to make and develop choices of raw materials that will enable them to produce in an environmentally friendly way and to ensure that the resulting products comply with the values of the green transition.

Content

1. Deepening phase balances and phase diagrams and their relevance for sustainable development
- liquid-liquid equilibria
- Melt-liquid equilibria
2. Gas phase management in sustainable production
- Vapours and moisture
- real gases
3. Liquid solutions in modern industry
4. Supercritical phase and its industrial applications
5. Heat capacity and phase change temperatures
6. Thermodynamic quantities at different temperatures
7. Thermal and electrical conductivity
8. fundamentals of corrosion and strength of materials

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Students can qualitatively define or describe concepts and phenomena related to the subject and solve related problems in a straightforward manner.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Students can define or describe in their own words the concepts and phenomena related to the subject area; they can explain the basis or meaning of the formulas related to the phenomenon; they can comment on the meaningfulness of the results obtained in solving problems related to the subject area.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Students can model phenomena, events, etc. based on meaningful assumptions and analyse, evaluate and modify solutions and models as necessary.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

Students can qualitatively define or describe concepts and phenomena related to the subject and solve related problems in a straightforward manner.
