The student
• understands the general and specific legislation governing social services and their interdependencies
• is able to apply the legislation and key guidelines governing social service work
• is aware of the legal protection mechanisms available to social services clients
• is familiar with the services under the Social Welfare Act
• understands the client process and can identify the client's service needs and corresponding services.

• Key general legislation and service systems in social welfare
• Hierarchy of norms: constitution, general legislation, special legislation, regulations, guidelines
• Client legal protection: complaints, appeals and other legal remedies
• Client process in social welfare
• Clients with special needs
