Objective

The student:
- understands the prehospital patient care process
- understands occupational and patient safety in the prehospital environment
- develops his understanding of the use of the prehospital mission and transport codes
- develops his skills in the use of the government terrestrial trunk radio and communication standards
- develops his skills in the use of the prehospital electronic charting system and reporting
- is able to use all relevant BLS medical equipment related to assessment, emergency care and immobilization
- is able to demonstrate the basics of 12lead ECG interpretation
- is able to demonstrate primary assessment and develops his skills in secondary assessment
- is able to demonstrate the prehospital care of typical BLS patients
- develops his skills in patient guidance and in the proper use of non-transports
- is aware of all the equipment of the ambulance and is able to demonstrate all relevant checks and maintenance works related to them
- understands the roles of the two medics during the EMS mission, when driving to the scene
- understands the importance of safe emergency vehicle placement on the scene
- is able to demonstrate safe patient moving techniques in the prehospital environment

Content

- BLS clinical practice 7,5 credits
- 2,5 credits of lab sessions and/or simulation studies

Qualifications

A minimum of 50 credits of clinical nursing studies.
BLS competence.
The student and tutor teacher go through other recommended studies in the HOPS discussions.
