Objective
The student will be able to
- name the key legislation and guidelines governing medicines
- explain the purpose and objectives of a treatment plan
- describe the different ways of administering medicines and their correct handling
- explain the basic principles of safe medication administration for older people
- explain the typical side effects, adverse effects and interactions associated with medicines for older people
- perform the calculations required for medication administration
- describe the importance of client-centred guidance and counselling related to medication administration
- provide medical care for older people in accordance with the rights provided by the education.
