Objective

The student is able to identify modern materials and knows the problems of conservation related to modern materials both in theory and in practice. The student knows history and manufacturing methods of modern materials. The student is able to identify modern materials and plastics in museum collections. The student understands the specific condition requirements of modern materials and challenges of preservation of modern materials in collections and is able to make suggestions from the collection management viewpoint.

The student comprehends the basic concepts, terminology and methods of the course subject. The student masters the basic elements of the course and understands the key contents of the course. The student understands the necessary theoretical and applied principles related to the course theme. The student is able to acquire independently reliable data upon course theme.

The student is able to give reasons for his/her conservation approaches and practical work proceeds logically by following the established procedure in conservation. The student masters the subject area and has achieved good level of knowledge and skills. The student has fulfilled the course assignments independently enough. The student is able to acquire independently reliable data upon course theme and is able to analyze this data.

The student masters the subject area and has achieved excellent level of knowledge and skills. The student shows excellent theoretical and practical knowledge and is able to apply her/his knowledge. The student is able to fulfill independently both written and practical assignments. The student is able to acquire independently reliable data upon course theme and is able to analyze and apply this data. The student is able to discuss the course theme by using relevant terminology and concepts. The student is able to give reasons for his/her conservation approaches and practical work proceeds logically by following the established procedure in conservation. The student works independently and shows self-motivation and creativity in problem solving.
