Objective

The student understands the laws of thermodynamics and she/he can do an energy analysis for open or closed system. The student understands the limitations of the laws of thermodynamics. The student knows the basics of combustion and chemical reactions related to that. The student understands the basics of fluid mechanics.

Prerequisites

The student can understand simple natural scientific phenomena and the student has the basic mathematical and science skills needed to calculate physical phenomena.

The student is familiar with the laws of thermodynamics.
The student is familiar with basics of fluid dynamics and heat transfer.
The student can solve simple calculations of fluid dynamics and heat transfer.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student understands the laws of thermodynamics.
The student can use the laws of thermodynamics to solve simple problems.
The student knows basics of fluid dynamics and heat transfer.
The student can solve applied calculations of fluid dynamics.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student understands the laws of thermodynamics and how to use them to solve thermodynamic-based problems.
The student can solve applied calculations of thermodynamics.
The student knows the fundamentals of fluid dynamics and can solve calculations.
The student masters the fundamentals of heat transfer.
