Objective

The student identifies the methods, diagrams and concepts applied in plant design. The student is able to prepare basic documents for pipeline design, such as pipeline isometers.

The student identifies the pipeline design and sizing according to standards, as well as for strength calculation and flexibility analysis.

Content

1. Main EN, SFS and PSK standards and legislation related to pipelines
2. The most common pipeline materials and their selection.
3. Pipeline support structures.
4. Pipeline isometers.
5. Pipeline supplies.
6. Pipeline strength calculation and flexibility analysis
7. Assignments with CAD software.

Prerequisites

Unit processes 1
Plant Design basics

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student is able to define and describe the concepts and phenomena included in the course in a qualitative way and to compute straightforward problems.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student is able to understand and define or describe the concepts and phenomena discussed in the course in his own words; he also knows how to explain the origin and meaning of related equations and to critically evaluate the solutions obtained when solving related problems.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student is able to characterize and model phenomena discussed in the course on the basis of reasonable assumptions, as well as to analyze, evaluate and modify solutions for related problems and the underlying model when needed.
