Objective

After completing the course, the student
• names the key laws and regulations related to environmental responsibility and chemical safety
• identifies the most common methods used in environmental impact assessment and measurement, and interprets the results obtained using these methods
• recognises the most common standards, eco-labels, and certifications related to environmental impacts in the fashion industry, and describes the requirements they set for products and/or companies.

• Laws and regulations related to environmental responsibility (national and international)
• Chemical safety of clothing and related responsibilities
• Methods for environmental impact assessment in the fashion industry
• The main principles of life cycle thinking, life cycle assessment methods, and key impact categories

Textile Fibres and Yarns; Fabrics and Knits: Structures, Dyeing and Printing; Functional Clothing: Materials and Testing

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Students recognise key laws and regulations related to the subject. They identify methods related to environmental impact assessment and measurement and their applications. Students recognise the most common standards and certifications and can name the requirements they set for products.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Students can name key laws and regulations and describe their main content. They can describe the purposes for which different environmental impact assessment methods can be used and the types of results they can yield. Students can describe the content of the most important standards and certifications and the requirements they set for companies from different perspectives.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Students can name key laws and regulations, describe their main content, and explain their significance in the fashion industry. They can describe the purposes for which different environmental impact assessment methods can be used and critically examine the results obtained from them. Students can analyse the content of the most important standards and certifications and the requirements they set for companies from multiple perspectives critically.
