Objective

After completing the course, the student
• identifies the most commonly used fabrics and knits and their trade names
• evaluates the impact of the chosen textile structure on the product's properties, care, and cost
• assesses fabric quality using standard tests
• names the most common dyeing and printing methods and describe their impact on the product's properties, care, and cost
• identifies the major environmental impacts of fabric and knit production and dyeing.

Content

• The most common manufacturing methods and structures of textile surfaces, including woven fabrics, knits, nonwovens, laces, and bonded fabrics
• Industrial dyeing and printing methods for fabrics and their environmental impacts
• Interpretation of testing standards, conducting standard tests, and reporting results, as well as defining required properties of fabrics using standards
• English terminology related to the subject area

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Students recognise the main fabric and knit structures, their trade names, and uses. They can name common structures, dyeing and printing methods, their properties, and the environmental impacts of production. They can perform a standard test on fabric under supervision. Students recognise English terminology related to the subject area.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Students recognise the main fabric and knit structures, their trade names, and uses, and can describe them clearly. They can reasonably evaluate the effects of textile structures and dyeing and printing methods on the final product's properties. Students can name the key environmental impacts related to the production, dyeing, and printing of textile structures. They can perform a standard test under supervision and interpret the results. Students recognise and remember English terminology related to the subject area comprehensively.

Students recognise the main fabric and knit structures, their trade names, and uses, can describe them clearly, and evaluate the differences between them. They can deeply evaluate the effects of textile structures and dyeing and printing methods on the final product's properties. Students can name and categorise the environmental impacts related to the production, dyeing, and printing of textile structures. They can independently perform a standard test and interpret the results. Students can apply English terminology related to the subject area.
