Objective
The student masters public performance situations, presentation practices and approaches and has a clear understanding of the musician's profession and professional ethics.
A work placement is closely related to the work of a professional musician. Work placement may include performances and studio work, in which a musician's duties are performed, and also composition, notation, arranging and preparing for a performance. The preparation of marketing material can be part of the work placement. Accompaniment tasks in the artistic part of the courses Concert or Artistic Concert Project of the Metropolia UAS Music Degree can also be considered practical training.
Content
Public performances and other work considered to be musician's work placement, depending on the workload. Gigs, appearances, studio work and other such artistic work for musicians count as full hours. Other work will be assessed on a case-by-case basis. It is the student's responsibility to keep a documented diary of their work placement, clearly indicating the time, place, amount and quality of the work, and the community of work (e.g. ensemble). The work placement must be carried out during the course of the studies. In addition, the student keeps an experiential reflective diary in which they describe what they have learned on the job

Assessment criteria, approved/failed
Assessment will be based on the student's reflective diary, which will indicate the content, quality and quantity of work.
Further information
The students will carry out a work placement in accordance with the attached specification and will demonstrate the quantity and quality of their work by keeping a diary or other documentation.
Completion of a reflective diary with a pass.
