Objective
The student
• is able to define and analyse different eras and music styles, as well as the works and composers representing them
• can analyse the production and technical content of recordings and place them in a historical and stylistic context
• knows how to seek professional and research information from various sources, critically organise it, and apply it to their own activities
• is able to reproduce recording, mixing and production methods from different eras using reverse engineering techniques
• can write, record, and produce a pastiche work imitating the style of another music writer or era.

Qualifications
The student
• can analyse how music and its various elements are perceived and can analyse the musical content of works and place them in a historical and stylistic context
• knows how to seek professional and research information from various sources and apply it to their own activities
• can make an exact transcription of a recording containing multiple instruments and notate what they hear in score form
• can write music and lyrics both individually and in small groups, both according to given assignments and independently
• can work professionally and creatively in various popular music styles
• has a command of the entirety of studio production and can plan and execute the production of a professional recording
• can describe the different stages of making a recording and the specific characteristics of various projects
• is able to act as the artistic producer of a recording and execute it to a high technical standard
• can create technically and artistically balanced mixes for different music styles and purposes and can utilise the possibilities offered by computer-based studio technology.
Assessment criteria, approved/failed
The student
• is able to define and analyse different eras and music styles, as well as the recordings and their creators representing them
• is capable of reproducing the recording, mixing, and production methods of different eras using reverse engineering techniques
• can write, record, and produce a pastiche work imitating the style of another music writer or era
• works according to given assignments and schedules.
