Objective

The student
• is capable of recording, editing, and processing vocals in a digital audio workstation environment
• is able to describe the physiological basics of singing
• can communicate constructively and positively with singers and musicians in recording situations
• is able to direct, manage and record vocal productions and provide proper signal processing in the production of vocal tracks
• works in a goal-oriented manner according to given assignments and schedules.

Content

• Studio work, vocal recording sessions, and giving and receiving peer feedback
• Lectures and guest lectures
• Basics of the physiology of singing
• Producer's role in finalising vocal tracks
• Tuning of vocal tracks and other processing technology

Qualifications

The student
• can plan and execute a recording session in a professional studio and collaborate with musicians in a studio setting
• can listen critically and analytically
• can define the role of a music producer in various music productions
• is able to analyse the producer's tasks, responsibilities, and requirements
• can describe the technical and artistic characteristics of music productions from different eras and styles
• can interpret the historical development of music technology and production and relate it to contemporary working methods
• can independently execute a simple music production.

The student
• is able to record, edit, and process vocals in a digital audio workstation
• can communicate constructively and positively with singers in recording situations
• is able to describe the characteristics and requirements of a successful vocal recording
• can argue for their own productions, give and receive constructive feedback, and reflect on their own work
• works according to given assignments and schedules.
