Objective
The student
• practises the interpretation and improvisation of different rhythm music genres and applies theoretical knowledge in practice by using individual working methods in the development of their expression
• knows the techniques required of a professional musician, playing/vocal technique, rhythm treatment, phrasing and purity of tune
• is familiar with the job description of a professional musician and the note reading and assimilation skills required for practical work
• is able to perform solo, as accompaniment and in ensemble work in a variety of genres, in different configurations
• knows and is able to describe their own artistic strengths and skills
• can rehearse appropriately and is able to prepare new repertoire independently.
Content
Targeted study and practice of the instrument in accordance with the learning objectives.
Qualifications
Instrument Studies 1 or as agreed with the responsible teacher.
Assessment criteria, approved/failed
In order to obtain a pass mark, the student
• is able to set objectives to themselves
• is able to work independently
• practises a stylistically diverse repertoire
• practises interpretation and improvisation typical of their instrument
• practises the instrumental and technical means of expression characteristic of their instrument
• can work as part of an ensemble and express their musical views in ensemble work.
