Objective

The student
• can use the environment and equipment required for music studio production at a basic level
• understands the fundamentals and terminology of hearing, sound, and acoustics and can seek information on these topics
• can operate in a studio environment, use studio equipment appropriately, and knows the basics of signal routing, troubleshooting, and problem-solving in a studio setting
• can work in a small group in the roles of musician, sound engineer, and producer, using their skills in recording situations
• can work in various roles in group work situations, understands group processes and the basics of leadership, and has a command of the basic skills for successful teamwork
• works in a goal-oriented manner according to given assignments and schedules.

• Studio work and basic skills and knowledge in music technology
• Training in the use of the studio
• Preparing for, organising, and executing a studio session
• Individual and group reflection

Qualifications

Degree according to the extended syllabus level of basic education in music in Finland or equivalent skills and knowledge.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

The student
• can operate in a music studio environment in collaboration with a group
• knows the basic concepts and practices of recording and mixing and understands the basics of signal routing, troubleshooting, and problem-solving in a studio setting
• is able to use a digital audio workstation (DAW) in a studio environment
• can use music technology terminology and seek information on music technology topics
• works according to given assignments and schedules.
