ConcertLaajuus (5 cr)

Objective

The student is able to prepare a stylistically varied concert repertoire, taking into account the special characteristics of pop/jazz music. The student is able to take responsibility for choosing the repertoire together with their teacher, forming, leading and rehearsing the ensemble, and taking care of the practical arrangements of the concert. The student has good project management and interaction skills.

Content

Preparing, rehearsing and leading a concert repertoire according to the learning outcomes. Public performance of the repertoire in concert.

Qualifications

Instrument studies 1–3 courses or equivalent skills and knowledge.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

In order to receive an approved grade, the student:
- Has organized a concert for which they selected a high-quality repertoire together with their instrument teacher, has formed and rehearsed a band and has taken care of the practical arrangements of the concert
- Has demonstrated artistic, stylistically versatile skills in the concert with their own instrument
- Is able to work as a member of a band and communicate their own musical views
- Is capable of using means of musical expression typical of the selected repertoire and instrument.
