Objective

The student is able to guide the learner’s instrumental learning in group tuition. The student is able to support learning in a motivational manner for both individuals and the group. The student is able to identify and solve challenges in learning processes, utilize group dynamics, and prepare meaningful learning assignments for the group. The student is able to creatively apply different musical elements to group tuition. The student is able to teach improvisation to a group considering the musical and stylistic contexts. The student is capable of reflecting on their pedagogical group tuition competence and conducting continuous professional development.

Content

Advanced content of group pedagogy and group dynamics, advanced pedagogy of improvisation, individual and collaborative reflection, observation of teaching and learning, ePortfolio, instrument group teaching practice.

Prerequisites

The student knows group teaching methods and is able to conduct group tuition in their own instrument. The student is able to construct a culture of positive group dynamics and is able to identify learning processes both in individuals and the group. The student is able to apply diverse teaching methods in different learning situations. The student is able to choose appropriate musical and pedagogical materials considering their group’s needs. The student is able to give constructive group feedback while being supportive and respective of individual strengths. The student is able to evaluate how prepared the group is for improvisation and is able to apply different teaching methods to develop improvisation skills in the group.
