Objective

The student knows how to act as part of a band. The student is proficient in the different styles of rhythm & blues, perceiving their own role in the band as both accompanist and soloist. Using their own instrument, the student is able to play/sing basic rhythm & blues repertoire from different eras by heart. The student is capable of taking on the responsibilities related to working in a group. The student develops their interaction skills and can reflect on their own work and that of others, as well as express themselves both verbally and in writing. The student is able to produce and interpret musical notation and knows the basics of rhythm & blues improvisation.

Qualifications

No prerequisites.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

In order to receive an approved grade, the student:
- Has completed the set assignments according to schedule
- Is able to work also independently in practicing the repertoire
- Has learned the performed repertoire to a satisfactory level, for example is able to perform it from memory, if necessary
- Is able to act as part of a band and communicate their own musical views
- Is able to use means of expression typical of their instrument and the selected repertoire
- Can perform and communicate with the band and the audience
- Understands their role in a band and can communicate their own musical views.
