Objective

The student
• acquires knowledge of the fundamental principles and process phases of service design
• learns to apply service design tools and methods to the development of services and products
• understands the importance of research in service design and uses prototypes to support ideation and service experience development
• is able to apply experience prototyping to evaluate and refine service concepts.

• Fundamentals and process phases of service design
• Key tools and methods in service design
• The role of research in service design
• The role of digital products and services within the service ecosystem
• Experience prototyping in service concept development

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student
• participates in the course activities at a satisfactory level
• recognises the basic principles and process phases of service design and can use some tools and methods
• understands the importance of research at a basic level and the fundamental principles of experience prototyping.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student
• actively participates in course activities
• demonstrates proficiency in the service design process and can apply key service design tools and methods in development work
• understands the role of research in service design and can utilise digital services as part of service design
• can implement and evaluate experience prototyping within the design process.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student
• demonstrates exceptional engagement in course activities
• exhibits a comprehensive understanding of the principles and process of service design and uses tools and methods effectively and creatively
• can reflect on the role of research in service design and leverage digital products and services in diverse ways
• is able to implement, apply, and analyse experience prototyping professionally and comprehensively.
