Objective

After completing the course, the students can take part in communication in familiar everyday and work life situations, and their language competence is proficient enough to handle a variety of practical work matters. They understand the main ideas of everyday texts in their own field and are also able to draw conclusions based on details from the context. The students can write short descriptions and messages as well as simple texts regarding job search. They master the basic everyday vocabulary and structures, some idiomatic expressions and the most common conjunctions. The language skills are at least A2.2 of the European reference framework and possibly in some sub-context at B1.1.

Content

Oral and written communication in everyday work life situations: running errands, the key repetitive, routine-like work tasks in one's field, the Finnish work culture and society.
Language structures, e.g. the verb tenses, the verb government, the plural, the comparison of adjectives and adverbs, the present and the imperfect tenses of the passive case.
Differences between the formal and informal language use.

Prerequisites

Finnish language proficiency at level A2.1-A2.2.
Starting level: A2.1-A2.2
Target level: A2.2-B1.1.

This is an optional course. PLEASE NOTE that the prerequisite knowledge for Internship and Language Training 3 is the acquired Finnish language proficiency level B1. In case your language skills do not meet this level yet, this course is compulsory for you.
