Objective
The students are familiar with the current discussion on child welfare. They are familiar with the Convention on the Rights of the Child and the principles and contents of the Child Welfare Act. They know and can apply basic concepts related to child protection. The students recognize the reasons behind the need for child protection and are familiar with the distinct stages of the child welfare process. They can identify ethical issues related to child protection. The students can reflect on their own professional activities and understand their own role as part of multidisciplinary cooperation in child protection.
Content
The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. Tasks, core values, and principles of child protection. The best interests of the child, inclusion, and rights in child protection. Preventive child protection. Child protection process. Child Welfare Act. Social Welfare Act in relation to the Child Welfare Act. The child protection service system.

Objective
Opiskelija tuntee lastensuojeluun liittyvää ajankohtaista keskustelua. Opiskelija tuntee lapsen oikeuksien yleissopimuksen sekä lastensuojelulain periaatteet ja sisällön. Hän tuntee ja osaa soveltaa lastensuojeluun liittyviä peruskäsitteitä. Opiskelija tunnistaa lastensuojelutarpeen taustalla olevia syitä ja tuntee lastensuojeluprosessin eri vaiheet. Hän tunnistaa lastensuojeluun liittyviä eettisiä kysymyksiä. Opiskelija osaa reflektoida omaa ammatillista toimintaansa ja ymmärtää oman roolinsa lastensuojelun monialaisessa yhteistyössä.
