Degree:
Bachelor of Engineering

Degree title:
Bachelor of Engineering, BEng

Credits:
240 ects

Duration:
4 years (240 cr)

Start semester:
Autumn 2023

Descriptions

The learner’s track curriculum in electronics consists mainly of 15 ECTS study modules, which are all organized within one study period..The study modules are the following:
• compulsory basic studies of the first year (four courses) 60 ECTS
• second year compulsory studies in electronics (four study modules) 60 ECTS
• two elective study modules of the major (electronics) 30 ECTS
• elective studies 15 ECTS
• the studies of the Finnish language 20 ECTS**
• innovation project 10 ECTS
• two internship periods 30 ECTS
• bachelor thesis 15 ECTS
ALTOGETHER 240 ECTS
** Finnish students complete one additional optional study module (15 ECTS) and the studies of their second national language (5 ECTS) instead

The studies of the two first years are compulsory and common to all the students in the degree programme.
During the last two years of study the students have to complete two elective study modules related to electronics and one or two elective study modules, the innovation project and (again depending on the language skills) possibly one course of their second national language. The students have to complete as well two internship periods and finally carry out a bachelor thesis on a topic related to electronics.

The Finnish students have to complete two totally elective study modules instead of one and a course on their second national language (Finnish/Swedish). The other students have to complete 20 ECTS of studies in Finnish language.

The students may relatively freely plan the timing of their studies of the third and fourth year based on the timing of the elective modules etc. The innovation project and the possible course of the second national language are usually completed during the third year of study. The internship periods may be carried out during the study periods of the third or fourth year or alternatively during the summer periods between the semesters.
