Objective
The student will understand the basics of elementary methods and be able to calculate static linear analyses. The student knows the different element types and can use the commercial software for different tasks.
Content
• Basics of matrix calculus
• Fundamentals of elementary methods: basic concepts, equations of equilibrium of elements, equation of equilibrium of structure, solving unknown nodal displacements, calculation of support reactions and internal forces of elements
• Element types
• Using the FEM program

The student
• is able to solve unknown nodal transitions
• is able to use FEM for simple analyses.

The student
• is able to solve unknown nodal displacements and calculate the support reactions and internal forces of elements
• is able to use a FEM program and interpret the results.

• is able to apply the elementary method to different cases
• is able to use FEM software, select appropriate element and analysis types and boundary conditions, and interpret the results.
