The student
• can calculate stresses and strains in a given cross-section for a combined loading case
• is able to calculate the stresses in a thin-walled cross-section
• knows the rules of mechanical design and is able to develop a design tool based on them.

The student
• can calculate stresses and deformations in a critical cross-section of a structure and evaluate the resistance of a structure under a combined loading case
• is able to calculate the stresses in a thin-walled cross-section at a critical point
• is able to develop a functional and versatile design tool.
