Objective

The student knows the basic laws of mechanical vibrations and wave motion and can use them in simple engineering applications. The student is able to use the fundamental laws of electrostatics and magnetism to describe simple phenomena and to solve simple application problems.

Content

• Vibration and waves
• Harmonic and mechanical vibration, damping vibration
• Electrostatics, electric field and magnetic field
• Electromagnetic induction

Qualifications

The student understands simple natural phenomena and has basic mathematical and scientific skills related to the calculation of natural phenomena.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student is able to define or describe the subject matter related to the concepts and phenomena qualitatively and calculate the associated basic quantitative comparisons and calculations.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student is able to apply, calculate, change and choose the concepts related to the matter and phenomena qualitatively and calculate the basic quantitative calculations as well as to complete and produce the necessary information for the calculations.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student is able to categorise, collect, combine and generalise the concepts related to the matter and phenomena qualitatively and calculate the basic quantitative calculations as well as derive and rearrange given basic information.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

The student is able to define or describe the subject matter related to the concepts and phenomena qualitatively and calculate the associated basic quantitative comparisons and calculations.
