Objective
The student
• knows the components in a modern vehicle equipped with an electric powertrain, key component specifications and the relationship between components and vehicle key features: range, environmental factors and vehicle manufacturing costs
• knows different battery and electric engine techniques, charge standards and practical examples of production vehicle applications
• knows electric vehicle strengths and weaknesses compared to other powertrain solutions, including environmental and societal points of view.

• Typical electric vehicle components and high voltage system architecture
• Electric vehicle energy storage solutions and batteries
• Electric vehicle charging systems and standards
• Electric vehicle laboratory assignments
