Descriptions

The Degree Programme in European Business Administration (EBA) is the oldest double degree programme in Finland, launched in 1993. It leads not only to a BBA degree from Metropolia, but to another bachelor degree from one of Metropolia's partner universities in Europe. The student will have to successfully complete the requirements of both institutions.
The programme is designed in partnership with highly rated business schools from around Europe, with the aim of providing students a solid foundation in international business studies, in a strongly international learning environment and with attractive work experience opportunities. All courses are delivered in English.
After an introduction to general business subjects in the first year of studies, students are provided more advanced second-year courses which reflect the orientation of the degree programme towards strategic decision-making. Greater emphasis is placed on the development of analytical skills and understanding of the wider business environment. In the third year of the programme students attend a partner university abroad, studying from a curriculum designed in partnership with Metropolia Business School. This is followed by a final year of studies comprising of work placement (30 ECTS) and a Bachelor Thesis. Throughout the programme students are required to learn an additional language (French, German or Spanish for Finnish students, Finnish for non-natives).

A graduate of this degree programme can expect to be offered attractive work opportunities internationally. Those wishing to continue their studies to Master’s level are well prepared to do so immediately or after two years of work experience, if they aspire the professional Master's degree from a Finnish UAS.

Studying in this degree programme involves a high degree of commitment from the very start. Completion of courses must be punctual in order to qualify for the exchange year, which is a compulsory part of the degree. A degree certificate can be awarded only when 240 ECTS as specified in the curriculum have been completed. The EBA students will be studying in a very international environment, as many participants come from around the world. By experiencing such a working environment already in Finland, students are better prepared for their study and work experiences abroad.
