Objective

The student is able to find out about the requirements of their job in supporting and promoting the work capacity and functional capacity of working-age adults. The student understands the functioning of the occupational health network and the regulations governing occupational health care. The student can evaluate the key factors and work load affecting work capacity using their knowledge of occupational physiotherapy and ergonomics. When evaluating workloads, the student is able to choose the key methods and metrics needed for individual persons, for the requirements of the work and for the work environment. The student can utilise their prior learning and deepen their competence in the functioning of the musculoskeletal system and in physiotherapy methods. The student is able to choose the appropriate examination and therapy methods in supporting the functioning of the musculoskeletal system. The student can provide guidance for self-care that supports the client’s aims and content and to evaluate the effectiveness of the physiotherapy methods they have chosen for the client. The student is able to cooperate with working life partners, utilising multidisciplinary expertise in physiotherapy.

- Selection and use of evidence-based physiotherapy examination and treatment methods
- Evaluation and monitoring of the selected physiotherapy methods and the effectiveness of physiotherapy
- Workplace cooperation and multidisciplinary collaboration in physiotherapy

Prerequisites

The student knows the basics of evaluating and promoting functional capacity and the effects of experiencing pain in the physiotherapy process. The student is able to describe the structures of the human body and their core functions. The student knows how to examine the musculoskeletal system and is familiar with physiotherapy methods and therapeutic training as part of the physiotherapy process. The student has completed supervised practical training in physiotherapy with a scope of at least 2 credits.
