Objective

The aim of the internship is that the student is able to work in good dialogue and interaction in accordance with ethical principles in customer situations and work communities. The student becomes competent in the process of evaluating, producing and handing over prosthetics and orthotics that promote the client’s participation and functional capacity. The student self-assesses and develops their own activities. The student’s key professional competences and expertise are systematically enhanced as the studies progress. They understand the importance of multidisciplinary work and are able to work as part of a team. The student can apply prior learning in the evaluation and manufacturing processes of prosthetics and orthotics and strengthens their manual skills. In their activities, the student is aware of and able to follow eco-friendly methods and ways of working.

Content

Goal-driven, guided and assessed activities in workplace learning environments. Goal-driven and systematic action towards improving oneself, and recording of these actions.

Prerequisites

The student must have successfully completed the following courses:
- Anatomy and Physiology 2
- Materials and Manufacturing Techniques
- Professional Basis for Prosthetics and Orthotics
- Basics of Evaluating Functional Capacity
- Transtibial Prosthesis TT

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

PROFESSIONAL KNOWLEDGE BASE
- Student can search for knowledge resourcefully utilizing sources of the field and uses the knowledge base of the field
- Student is familiar with the knowledge base and core components of the profession

PROFESSIONAL SKILLS AND ACTIONS
- Student has adequate professional skills to work in the profession
- Student can work in a client-oriented way
- Student solves professional tasks and problems

ETHICS, COOPERATION AND DEVELOPMENT
- Student works safely and in accordance with the ethical principles of the field
- Student displays competence benefitting groups or projects
- Student is able to evaluate personal strengths and weaknesses and development needs

- Student does not have the required professional knowledge or skills, and the level of professional competence proves inadequate

- Student does not show adequate readiness to develop oneself or to participate
