A Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required. Applicant must have the minimum of two years of relevant work experience in the field of study gained after the required degree.

Profile of the programme

The Master’s Degree in Intelligent Industrial Solutions (M.Eng) is tailored to engineering professionals working in the industry.

• industrial engineering
• process engineering
The studies provide tools to develop the industrial processes, projects and working methods related to modern industrial applications.

The studies deepen students previous engineering know-how and prepare you to work more efficiently in a modern intelligent industrial environment. The learning outcomes of the programme have been defined together with representatives of the local industry and it provides solutions to the increasing needs and challenges of the constantly developing fields of engineering.

Occupational profiles of graduates with examples

This degree gives an overview on the latest production technologies in the industry. Every student will have a chance to utilize the acquired skills set on their organization and implement a development project that will be reported as a Bachelor’s Thesis. This will increase student’s possibility to be employed nationally and internationally by the companies of their own field.

Access to further studies

The degree obtained is of the Master’s level. It is up to the Institution of Higher Education which offers further education (licenciate/doctorate) to decide on the eligibility.

Examination regulations, assessment and grading

According to the Degree Regulations of Helsinki Metropolia University of Applied Sciences course assessment criteria are specified in the course implementation plan. The teacher in charge of the course will be responsible for the assessment. Students must be informed at the beginning of the course on the assessment principles, which must be based on the course objectives. Assessment takes primarily place for each course and applies to the students who have registered and been accepted on the course. If necessary, different components of a course may be assessed individually. If the course consists of several components, the teacher may point this out in the assessment principles contained in the implementation plan.
The assessment scale is as follows: excellent (5), very good (4), good (3), very satisfactory (2), satisfactory (1), fail (0) and pass (P).

Graduation requirements

All studies indicated in the curriculum of the Master’s Degree Programme in Intelligent Industrial Solutions must be successfully completed.

Mode of study

The studies are part-time and intended to be completed alongside work in 1,5 years. The contact sessions are organised mainly during weeknights. Some of the studies are carried out in virtual environments.

Workplacement(s) and Work-based Learning

Students have a minimum of two years' verified relevant work-based practical experience before Master´s Degree studies.
The master's thesis is a research and development project in which the student is able to plan, implement and evaluate in co-operation with working life. The student is able to work independently in expert positions of the field and as a developer and reformer of working life.

It´s possible to negotiate about exchange period.
