Descriptions

The textile and clothing sector is making progress towards a circular economy. The Master's Degree Programme in Fashion and Clothing increases the student's comprehensive understanding of the challenges of the textile and clothing value chains, the pressures for change and the innovations and networks that support the circular economy. The studies increase the student's sustainability and circular economy skills, and offer the ability to work in various expert, development and management positions internationally. After completing the degree, the student is able to anticipate, develop and manage processes and projects in their field and create a new kind of operating culture in the textile and clothing industry.

Teaching is mainly in Finnish. Some of the teaching and/or learning material is in English. This blended degree programme can be completed alongside work. The student prepares a personal study plan (HOPS), which includes five credits (5 cr) of elective studies.

The master’s thesis related to the studies is thirty credits (30 cr). The thesis is a work-based research development project. The client is usually the student's own employer, but can also be some other working life organization. The topic of the thesis must be clearly related to the themes of the textile and clothing industry.

The structure and competence objectives of the degree programme are described in the Attachments.
