Objective

The objective is to guide students in mastering the knowledge, techniques, and best practices of Power BI data software and relevant skills. By participating in the course the student will be able to upgrade their own skills and align them with the expectations of a modern business environment.

This course employs a collaborative learning community approach to equip students with the Power BI expertise needed to successfully pass the Microsoft PL-300 Data Analyst exam. This or equivalent professional certification will give students a competitive edge by validating their ability to drive data-driven insights and to make informed business decisions.

Content

Content
The sessions of the learning community are organized into 6 main sections which correspond to the PL-300 Data Analyst education materials from the Microsoft Learn training platform. The course provides a comprehensive overview of Microsoft data analytics, covering topics such as:

-importing data in Power BI
• Overview of Data Analysis Expressions (DAX)
• Data preparation and modelling
• Data visualisation and dashboards
• Workspace management

Assignment outline: first, the students complete all Labs assigned in the course. Second, they pass the Pre-exam with the minimum score 80% three times, in order to train before the Exam. Third, those students who are ready and willing, take the Exam, or in case they fail, choose an alternative assignment suggested by the instructor. The course also allows for RPL of equivalent professional certifications.

Completed higher education degree (Bachelor level)

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student has completed basic requirements to pass the course and has made an attempt to apply and articulate concepts and information both verbally and in writing but has not made enough effort overall. The student has demonstrated little effort, interest and motivation for individual or team activities / assignments and the output is rather weak.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student can apply and articulate concepts and information well both verbally and in writing, certain areas of individual or team output require further attention; shows appropriate level of interest and motivation in individual and team activities. Good presentation delivery and analysis.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student demonstrates interest and motivation in individual and team activities and assignments, fully applies and clearly articulates concepts and information both verbally and in writing. The student is able to support their arguments with references to the recommended reading and lecture content. Excellent presentation delivery and analysis.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

The student has completed basic requirements to pass the course and has made an attempt to apply and articulate concepts and information both verbally and in writing but has not made enough effort overall. The student has demonstrated little effort, interest and motivation for individual or team activities / assignments and the output is rather weak.
