Descriptions
The Master’s Degree Programme in Development and Leadership of Nursing is intended for nursing professionals who want to work in research & development, leadership, teaching and/or in more advanced clinical practitioner roles. Taking the Master’s Degree in Development and Leadership of Nursing provides the students with a high-level professional competence in developing the care of patients and enables them to work as developers, reformers, experts and leaders in varying work environments as well as to obtain health care expert positions nationally and internationally. Students also have an opportunity to deepen their competence in their own area of practice.

Opetussuunnitelma perustuu kansainvälisesti tunnistettuihin ja tulevaisuuden näkökulmasta painotettuihin kompetenssialueisiin. Opetussuunnitelmatyössä huomioitu Metropolian Terveyden osaamisaluepäällikön ja englanninkielisen hoitotyön koulutus-ohjelman tutkintovastaavan huomiot työelämäyhteistyökumppaneiden kanssa käydyistä keskusteluista.

Objective
Development and Leadership of Nursing Master’s degree programme offers students an opportunity to deepen their competence in four key areas: clinical practice, leadership and management, education as well as research and development (refer to Appendix – DEVELOPMENT AND LEADERSHIP OF NURSING COMPETENCE MATRIX). Completion of the Development and Leadership of Nursing Master’s Programme does not lead to Registered Nurse status in Finland (please refer to more specific guidelines on professional practice rights in Finland: https://www.valvira.fi/web/en/healthcare/professional_practice_right s).
Additionally, students will deepen their competence via the shared competences set by Universities of Applied Sciences (learning to learn, operating in a workplace, ethics, sustainable development, internationality and multiculturalism, proactive development) – for more specific description refer to the attached Classification document – SHARED COMPETENCES OF UNIVERSITIES OF APPLIED SCIENCES AT MASTER'S LEVEL. The education follows the competence descriptions of the European Qualification Framework (EQF) and the National Qualification Framework (NQF). The competence of Master’s degree in Health Care equals level 7.
