Objective

After completing the course, the student is
• familiar with the acute care service system
• familiar with the basic components of in-hospital emergency care systems
• able to demonstrate knowledge in wide range of patient safety measures needed in the care for the acutely ill or injured
• able to analyze the ethical issues regarding acute care and is proficient in ethical decision-making
• able to work as a part of a multiprofessional team and in co-operation with other au-thorities and emergency services
• able to make independent decisions regarding the care of the acutely ill or injured and able to demonstrate leadership needed to lead acute nursing teams
• able to assess and develop his/her own wellbeing and that of his/her work community
• able to assess hazards related to occupational safety and to mitigate those hazards in order to create a safer work environment
