Opetusmenetelmät

The instructor would use the ‘Problem Based Learning’ technique to teach this module. In the ‘Problem Based Learning’ system, the instructor would act as a tutor and facilitator and the group of 4-6 students could discuss the cases (scenario based entrepreneurial ventures) from week one and they formulate the learning goals for each case through implementing the “seven jumps” methodology. After three days the students come and present their search on the assigned topics. The instructor will make sure that the students cover all aspects of the learning goals of that case. Six blocks would be covered in total for the entrepreneurship mindset module. Few lectures are given related to the block which is taught. Skill labs and practical classes are also included during the week. In most blocks there is a group assignments which the students have to present in each block. The teaching and learning strategy is designed to encourage students to think critically about the small businesses and entrepreneurship, the context where they operate and consequent management strategies undertaken. The overall teaching and learning strategy is designed to foster the active and reflective engagement of students in the learning process. The principal teaching and learning method is a combination of lecture, tutorials and feedback sessions. One-hour lecture slots are designed to illustrate and explain key theoretical concepts and debates in entrepreneurship field. In order to apply learned knowledge into the practice, each week we will run tutorials (two hour slots). Each topic discussed during the lecture will be backed up by concrete business examples through the case studies, videos and guest lecturers. Tutorials are also designed to stimulate peer discussion on theoretical concepts with reference to specific cases or real-life examples. In order to encourage independent learning and provide additional support, we will organise feedback sessions. The role of feedback in the learning process (formative feedback) is to inform the student of where and how their learning and performance can be improved. In order to make sure that each student gets equal chances for additional feedback a spread sheet with 10 minutes time slots will be available for registration and booking on the HAMK Moodle platform for interaction through lecturers’ zoom meeting id and each student who wants to take this opportunity has to register and reserve their name under specific time slot.

CampusOnline Students that can be accepted: 60 students HAMK students register for the course in Pakki during the period shown in the implementation plan. Students from other universities of applied sciences primarily register in Peppi/Pakki. In the course information (on the campusonline.fi portal), there is an enrollment form available from 11.11.-13.12.2024 only for those students who are not yet able to register in Peppi/Pakki. After this period, registration is only possible in the student’s own system. Students from other universities of applied sciences who are accepted into the course will receive an email after the registration period with instructions on how to activate their HAMK credentials. Please note that the message may be directed to the spam folder. The content of the class is divided into the key areas of entrepreneurship and small business development: 1. Introduction, definitions, theories and perspectives on small business and entrepreneurship. 2. The nature of entrepreneurs and small business owners. 3. Entrepreneurial management and growth. 4. Franchising. 5. Culture and the initiation of entrepreneurship. International evidence on entrepreneurship and small business. Please remember to give feedback. HAMK’s Spark feedback system opens 7 days before the course/module ends and it stays open for 14 days after the end date. You may give course/module feedback via Pakki. A notification of the courses/modules (to whom you have registered)for which feedback can be given appears on the desktop. You will always receive a notification on the student desktop when a course/module is ready for feedback. You will receive a reminder in HAMK's e-mail on the end date of the implementation, if you have not already given feedback before.
